16th annual CineAsia celebrates a fast-growing market
The 16th annual CineAsia convention will be staged Dec. 7-9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and focusing on the Asia-Pacific cinema business.
The seminar schedule begins the morning of Dec. 7 with an overview of technological changes in the Asian market moderated by Patrick Frater, CEO of Film Business Asia.
As FJI digital cinema editor Bill Mead reports on the following pages, China especially is growing at a rapidly accelerating pace.
South Korea, meanwhile, is on the verge of converting all of its 1,000-plus screens to digital, and markets like India, Japan, Australia and New Zealand are also in the midst of major conversion programs. And India, with its uniquely robust movie industry, is attaining an increasingly higher global profile as it co-finances more and more productions with Western talent.
