Asia-Pacific films were entirely absent from the prize list in Venice this past weekend.

The festival wrapped by giving its top prize to Sophia Coppola’s Somewhere and best director and best script prizes to Spain’s Alex de la Iglesia for Ballad of the Sad Trumpet.
