Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Asian Film Archive (AFA) will be launching the much-awaited DVD, Singapore Shorts Vol. 2, on the 8th of Nov, from 2:30 to 4:30pm, at Kinokuniya, Takashimaya. This is the second anthology of acclaimed Singapore short films, in an effort to raise funds and awareness globally for its preservation and cultural mission.

The DVD would feature nine short films made by local filmmakers only, from as old as 1974 to as recent as 2007. Through this, AFA aims to let viewers grasp a deeper understanding of cinema, thus being an avenue in which the different blends of Singapore society can be explored and identified.

The films that would feature in this 133 min run-time DVD are:

A Family Portrait/ UnRetrato De Familia (2004) Boo Junfeng
Absence (1997) K Rajagopal
Autopsy (2007) Loo Zihan

Imelda Goes to Singapore (2006) Brian Gothong Tan
Labour of Love – The Housewife (1978) Rajendra Gour
Match Made (2006) Mirabelle Ang

Also on the DVD are Bonus features, including:

– Audio commentaries by local filmmakers Boo Junfeng, Loo Zihan, Michael Tay and more.
– Restored audio of Labour of Love – The Housewife by Rajendra Gour using tools to improve the sound-to-noise ratio and to reduce clicks, pops, hiss and crackle.
